Alpe d’Huez is not only a fantastic winter destination but did you know there is just as much to do during the summer? Enjoy the most breathtaking views, challenge yourself or wind down in the warm Alps air in this perfect summer playground.
Throughout the year our fantastic Vallee Blanche hotel stays open to welcome adventurous guests seeking an active holiday in one of the most picturesque locations possible. Not only that; the resort is known as Isle du Soleil (Sun Island) because it receives the most recorded sun from June to September! Average temperatures at this time are between 23 – 30C.
There is so much to do in Alpe d’Huez over the summer months!
Fill your days with activities such as hiking, swimming, tennis, football, mini golf, volleyball, climbing, aerial obstacle course, summer luge, mountain biking and a whole indoor sports centre to explore – and that’s just in the town! Venture further afield and you’ll find tranquil paddle-boarding or kayaking along the river, a high flying treetop obstacle course (think Go Ape!) and exhilarating white water rafting in the nearby towns of Borg d’Oisans and Venosc.
Not an adrenaline junkie? There’s plenty of culture to immerse yourself in while visiting Alpe d’Huez over the summer months, such as the TDF market, triathlon, local markets or french cinema. To see a full list of activities available over summer, click here.
It’s a true adventure suitable for the whole family, full of challenges, experiences and lasting memories.
The hotel itself boasts an incredible central location, just a short walk from the main part of town. We’re proud of our fantastic hotel staff – our most dedicated and enthusiastic team members from the winter season stay on to look after the summer guests – and we put on a mean breakfast buffet too!

Prices are based on Half Board accommodation, so guests will need to organise their own transport to resort. If you’d like to fly, we recommend arriving into Lyon or Geneva and hiring a car. Flights are currently very reasonably priced into both airports through Easyjet, but generally car hire is better value from Lyon
